The U.S. Senate is reportedly planning to bring the stablecoin regulation bill (GENIUS Act) to a floor vote as early as before May 26 (local time). According to political media outlet Politico, Senate Republican Leader John Thune announced plans to push for a vote on the bill before Memorial Day.

The bill has reached its final stage of heading to the full Senate after passing the Senate Banking Committee last March. The GENIUS Act includes comprehensive regulations covering stablecoin issuance standards, reserve requirements, and federal and state issuer registration frameworks.

Industry attention is focused on the vote as it could mark the first substantial turning point in establishing a digital asset regulatory framework in the U.S. In particular, with the Trump administration showing a pro-cryptocurrency stance, the outcome of the bill's passage is expected to significantly impact the future stablecoin issuance ecosystem in the U.S.
