In April, the average daily trading volume (ADV) of cryptocurrencies on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) increased by 129% compared to the same period last year, recording 183,000 transactions. In nominal terms, this is equivalent to approximately 8.9 billion dollars.

According to PR Newswire, particularly the trading volumes of Micro Bitcoin (Micro BTC) and Micro Ethereum (Micro ETH) futures increased significantly by 115% and 165%, respectively. This is interpreted as a signal that institutional and individual investors are increasingly entering the cryptocurrency derivatives market actively.

The exchange sees the recent approval of spot ETFs and the inflow of institutional funds as the main background for the recovery of overall market liquidity leading to the increase in trading volume. It is evaluated as an indicator that the cryptocurrency derivatives market is also becoming an increasingly important area in traditional finance.
