Once avoided by investors due to high price volatility, Bitcoin has recently shown a stable trend and is gradually becoming a core asset in portfolios, according to analysis. According to CNBC, Philip Lafont, founder of the cryptocurrency investment firm Coatue Management, evaluated, “Bitcoin rose about 13% in 2025, and volatility is decreasing over time.”

He added, “The greatest weakness of Bitcoin in the past was extreme price volatility, but now it is relatively less volatile compared to major asset classes,” and “This is lowering the entry barriers to Bitcoin and serving as a background for expanding participation by institutions and conservative investors.”

He further predicted, “While the global net asset size is about $500 trillion, Bitcoin's market capitalization is still only $2 trillion,” and “Cryptocurrencies are likely to take on a more central weight in the global asset composition in the future.”

This evaluation is interpreted as reflecting the market trend that BTC is evolving from ‘Digital Gold’ to ‘Core Asset’ in conjunction with the recent Bitcoin Spot ETF approval, expansion of regulatory acceptance, and increase in the proportion of long-term holders.
