Kakao Pay, Stablecoin trademark 18 applications filed…'PKRW'·'KKRW' included

It has been confirmed that Kakao Pay has filed for multiple trademarks with a view to issuing stablecoins.

According to Good Morning Economy reports, based on the Knowledge Property Information Search Service (KIPRIS), Kakao Pay registered a total of 18 trademarks related to stablecoins.

The filed trademark samples include PKRW, KKRW, KRWP, KPKRW, and KRWKP, all of which are presumed to be digital asset names based on the Korean Won (KRW).

The industry sees Kakao Pay as preparing to enter the stablecoin business targeting its own payment ecosystem or the global remittance market.

Amid the active global discussion on stablecoin regulatory bills (such as the US GENIUS bill), the related movements of domestic large platform companies are also becoming active.
