There is a prospect that the U.S. Stablecoin Regulatory Bill could be processed as early as mid-July. Scott Besent U.S. Treasury Secretary recently mentioned in a statement that “Legislation related to stablecoins could be completed around mid-July,” indicating that legalization is imminent.

He emphasized that this bill not only regulates cryptocurrencies but also includes policy expectations to expand demand for U.S. Treasury bonds. Secretary Besent stated, “This bill will be a new source of supply for U.S. Treasury demand,” suggesting that it could be a turning point in formalizing the intersection between stablecoins and traditional finance.

This legislation is interpreted as an intention by the U.S. government to formalize institutional inclusion amid international competition surrounding the digital dollar and the spread of privately issued stablecoins. Although the specific content of the bill has not yet been disclosed, asset collateral requirements, issuer requirements, and linkage issues with the Federal Reserve are considered key.
