U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Besent stated that "Current tariffs on China are at their lowest level." Secretary Besent said, "The tariff level set on April 2 will be the upper limit of tariffs on China, and we can return to that point at any time," Bloomberg reported.

Previously, the United States and China implemented temporary tariff reduction measures for 90 days to ease tensions between the two countries. China significantly reduced tariffs on U.S. products from 125% to 10%, and the U.S. also reduced tariffs on Chinese products from 145% to 30%.

Secretary Besent's remarks are interpreted to suggest that such temporary tariff relaxations are not permanent and can be raised again depending on the situation. An analysis suggests that if the U.S.'s trade policy on China becomes tougher again, it could have a significant impact on the global supply chain and trade market.

Experts predict that the possibility of tariff level readjustments could act as a new variable in U.S.-China trade negotiations, and if tensions between the two countries rise again, economic uncertainty could increase.
