Chairman of the U.S. White House Cryptocurrency Advisory Committee Beau Hines expressed a strong stance on the government's policy regarding bitcoin holdings. He stated, “Bitcoin is an asset like gold,” and emphasized, “The bitcoin that the U.S. government may hold will never be sold under any circumstances.”
This statement was reported through Bitcoin Magazine on the 28th (local time). Amid ongoing discussions in the U.S. about possibly purchasing additional bitcoin as a strategic reserve asset, this comment suggests that the government recognizes digital assets as strategic holding assets from a long-term perspective.
Chairman Hines added, “Bitcoin is not just a cryptocurrency, but it serves as a safe asset in the digital age,” underscoring the need to store and protect it in the same way as gold.
Such remarks are expected to cause significant ripples in the market as they redefine the status of bitcoin not only at the private level but also at the government level.
