Ripple announced its intention to present a new standard for international remittances and to replace the existing system of SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication). Ripple declared that it would fundamentally solve the speed, cost, and transparency issues of global remittances through its blockchain technology, digital asset XRP, and recently released stablecoin RLUSD.

On the 28th, through its official blog, Ripple pointed out, "Existing overseas remittance systems still rely on manual work, resulting in frequent errors, delays, and excessive fees." It emphasized, “The 'Ripple Payments' solution using XRP and RLUSD can be the answer to these problems.”

Existing SWIFT-based remittances go through up to five intermediary banks, during which customers have to pay fees, and the transparency of payment flows is low. Ripple claims that its technology as a real-time payment infrastructure that can replace this is in line with the current global commerce speed.

Ripple also explained, "We have built a payment network accessible to over 90% of the global foreign exchange market," stating that their system can reduce settlement times, clarify fees, and reduce operational risks. As regulatory issues still exist, there is increasing weight on the possibility that digital asset-based remittance systems will become key infrastructure in the international payment market.
