Ripple Labs CEO Brad Garlinghouse reached out to the Bitcoin community with an olive branch. He emphasized, “The Bitcoin community is not the enemy of XRP holders,” adding, “This is not a zero-sum game. If they do well, we can do well too.”
These remarks were made during a stage speech at the 'XRP Las Vegas' conference held on May 30-31 in Las Vegas, USA. Amid growing conflict between the Bitcoin and XRP communities, Garlinghouse's comments are seen as an attempt to improve relations.
He further emphasized, “We need to consider the future of the entire cryptocurrency. Fighting solely for specific coins is meaningless.” This is also interpreted as a response to some critical perspectives from the political sector and the BTC community that have previously been negative towards XRP.
Previously, Garlinghouse openly criticized U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis, a strong proponent of Bitcoin, for canceling a meeting related to XRP. Lummis's son-in-law, Will Cole, had previously stirred controversy by referring to XRP as a “centralized fraud.”
Additionally, Ripple heightened tensions with the BTC community by donating the 'Satoshi’s Skull' image targeting Bitcoin mining for environmental issues to a museum.
However, Garlinghouse's latest remarks are interpreted as a stance to promote cooperation across the cryptocurrency ecosystem, indicating that mutual cooperation is paramount over internal divisions if cryptocurrencies are to challenge the existing financial system.
