Rafael Bostic, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, expressed the view that a rate cut could be implemented once this year. According to foreign media, President Bostic said, “I am open to the possibility of one rate cut this year,” adding, “This depends entirely on future economic indicators and trends.”
President Bostic is considered a representative ‘centrist’ figure within the Federal Reserve, and he has emphasized a cautious approach to interest rate policies. This statement is interpreted as considering signs of slowing inflation and maintaining employment stability in the U.S. economy.
The Federal Reserve currently maintains the base rate at 5.25~5.50%, and the market is divided on whether a rate cut will occur in the latter half of the year. President Bostic's remarks are interpreted as partially reflecting market expectations for a ‘gradual shift’.
