Austan Goolsbee, President of the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank, reaffirmed the possibility of a rate cut within the next 12 to 18 months.
On June 3 (local time), President Goolsbee mentioned the uncertainties of the ongoing tariff policy but stated, "Rates are expected to be lowered within a year to a year and a half." He maintained his existing stance on rate prospects and added that variables related to the trade environment could have major impacts on future Fed policy decisions.
Recently, discussions on rate cuts in the U.S. economy are gradually surfacing amid price stability and improvements in employment indicators, and President Goolsbee's remarks are seen as supporting these market expectations.
