On the 16th (local time), Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated, “Israel is advancing toward two strategic goals of eliminating Iran's nuclear and missile threats.” This is interpreted as effectively declaring the commencement of a military operation amidst extreme tension with Iran.
