A sudden impact on the cryptocurrency market occurred due to the United States' strike on Iran's nuclear facilities. Bitcoin is holding steady at the 100,000-dollar level, but major altcoins are showing a significant decline.

As of the afternoon of the 22nd, Bitcoin is recording approximately a 1% drop from the previous day at the 102,000-dollar level. On the other hand, Ethereum plummeted 6.6%, falling to the 2,280-dollar level, and XRP and Solana fell by 5.4% and 6.2%, respectively. Dogecoin, Cardano, etc., are also showing a decline of 4-6%, spreading the selling trend across altcoins in general.

The market's anxiety stems from geopolitical risks. President Donald Trump officially announced the precision strike on Iran's Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan uranium enrichment facilities the day before. It was reported that B-2 stealth bombers and bunker busters were mobilized for the airstrikes.

The market reacted immediately afterward. Particularly, with the possibility of Iran's retaliation and the raised potential for a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, concerns about oil and global inflation are mounting. This strait is a strategic point through which about 20% of the world's oil flows. In reality, the blockchain prediction market Polymarket is estimating the possibility of a blockade of the strait by Iran at 40% by the end of this month and 52% within the year.

JP Morgan warned that if the Strait of Hormuz is blocked, oil prices could rise to $120-130 per barrel, analyzing that this could be a factor increasing global stagflation risk.

Some experts mentioned the possibility that under these circumstances, Bitcoin could play a role as ‘digital gold,’ being rehighlighted as a defensive asset. However, the entire market is placed in short-term high uncertainty, and as President Trump warns that there will be greater attacks if Iran does not immediately choose peace, tension is expected to continue.
